Polyethylene Triple Glazed Window - Ukrainian
Summary: This solution uses polyethylene, PVC piping, pipe insulation and duct tape, to create 4 layers of insulation. The solution insulates better than double-glazed windows.
Materials
PVC piping 25mm to build frame
Polyethylene sheet 150-micron UVI stabilised
Pipe insulation 28mm with 9mm wall thickness.
HPX duct tape.
Adhesive PU foam
Tools
PVC pipe cutters
Screws
Stanley knife
How it works
This solution is similar to triple glazing. In our case support is provided by a frame made from PVC piping. Around this frame, we wrap a single sheet of polyethylene. We secure this polyethylene using the insulation noodle attached to the frame. We then wrap the outer frame using more polyethylene. This results in a triple-glazed polyethylene sheet. In case you wish to protect against rain and other elements you can strap a sacrificial sheet to the outside of the window.
